Carnival Cruise for 10 yr Anniversary

We finally made it on our first honeymoon and it only took us 10 years!! August 4th we landed in Miami at 5:30am (2:30)California time. We didn't have anywhere to go for 6 hours so we debated our options of sitting around in the airport or hopping on a bus and just riding around to see the city. We settled with the airport which turned out to be so fun. There was a Chili's in the airport that opened at 8am and they served breakfast so we set up camp there for the next 2 hours eating and people watching..."mumbles and earl" were both in the front of my mind (wink wink Mom, dad and Jill) At 12:00pm we made our way by shuttle to the port. There we were dumped off like ants in the wilderness. It was MADNESS!!! We found the line we were supposed to be in and waited, then we were put into another line where we waited, then once again we were put in another line where we waited. Boarding with 3000 other people was not as bad as I thought it was going to be but it took us about an hour to get on the ship. Once we got on we were told we could not go to our rooms and had to go to the lido deck (food deck) first. I was ticked off because we had been awake for 28 hours at that point. We finally just went to our rooms and dropped off our luggage then went to the lido deck and ate lunch. At 4:00pm we watched the boat leave port from the very top. At 6:00pm we went to our assigned dinning room which was the Lincoln room. It was casual dress but you can't wear shorts, tank tops, or flip flops..."they know we're on a boat right"?!? Dinner was SO YUMMY! I had cured salmon with soaked fruit and parmesean crusts, sweet and sour shrimp with lemon noodles. Eli had a salad with the most delicious beef brisket I have ever had along with mashed potatoes. For dessert Eli had fruit and I had chocolate cake. After dinner we went to the Ivan hoe theater and played a cartoon game, watched a game show and watch a game of BINGO. At 10:15pm The "Welcome aboard" show started followed by two comedy acts. Finally at 11:00pm we went to bed after being awake for 39 hours.

I loved this wall in the San Francisco airport. If you walked under it, it would play animal noises from the jungle.

It looks like you had such a fun trip. Did the little ones have fun with no mom and dad for a few days? How is life now being back to the normal grind? What was the best part of the vacation?
